THE SOCIAL PROJECTS IN BANJUL

SCHOOLS AND TRAINING

Since the first rally a pre-school and two elementary schools were set up financed through the vehicle auctions. A secondary school is in planning. In addition, a carpentry and a car repair company was founded which serve as training companies for young people.

HEALTH CENTER

The rally finances a health center with its own lab which treats everyday illnesses such as flu, stomach ache but also malaria. There is also an educational project which deals with topics such as sexuality, hygiene, circumcision, contraception etc.

SOUP KITCHEN & GASTRONOMY

The poor feed was one of the first projects. This is cross-financed by the project’s own restaurant “Blue Kitchen”, which offers jobs as well as apprenticeships. The restaurant also includes a bakery which is also an important part of helping people to help themselves.

WOMAN PROJECTS

The Sukuta Womensgarden is a cooperation in which women grow vegetables, which they later sell on the market. This allows women to earn their own income and contributes to the livelihood of large families.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

As the state garbage collection system collapsed in 2015, catastrophic conditions arose, especially in the markets. Currently, a container system for waste separation is being set up. The organic waste is composted and distributed to the various garden projects, because good soil is rare.
